Every upload, recorded once and reusable anywhere
The same clip sent in a chat and posted as a reel would otherwise be two uploads nobody could find again. The media library records the file once and, separately, where it is used — so "where's the video from my last reel?" has an answer.
One file, many uses
The same video can back a reel and an ad without being stored twice — the folder is a view, not a copy.
Two ways to look
Folders are what you filed. Used in is where a file actually appears: Posts, Reels, Ads, Chats, Workspace.
Filed once, found everywhere
One file, many places — filing never copies or moves it.
Registered once
Re-using or re-sharing the same file never creates a second asset.
Nothing is duplicated
Filing a file somewhere leaves the file itself untouched — it is not removed from anywhere else.
Folders you control
Create folders, rename them, upload straight into one, move assets between them, and see a count on every tile so a folder is never a mystery box. Deleting a folder does not destroy what is in it: the assets fall back to unfiled rather than being taken down with the label. Anything you have not filed yet lives in Unfiled, which is a real place you can browse, not a hole.

Questions people actually ask
Does filing a file in a folder move it?
No. Folders are labels over the same stored object. A file in a folder still shows up in every service view where it is actually used, and moving it between folders changes nothing about where it appears.
What happens if I delete an asset that a post is using?
The library checks first. If the file still backs a post, a reel, an ad, a chat or a workspace, the file itself is untouched — it simply leaves the library — because a live post showing a broken image is a worse outcome than a little unreclaimed storage. Only an unused file is actually erased.
Why did old uploads appear in my library later?
Because the library builds itself from what you actually published — older uploads are added to your library the first time you open it. Nothing moves and nothing is duplicated.
Is the library shared with my team?
The library is yours. Files used inside a workspace show up under the Workspace view of your own library — that is a lens on where your media went, not a shared drive for the whole team.
